KPerson - the CV and Competence Development System
KPerson is both a CV database and a competence development system (CDS) which has been in production use since 2008. This is the fourth incarnation, where the earliest versions dates back to 1998. KPerson is used by more than 150 people throughout Jayway.
The key to understand KPerson is competence (K as in the Swedish word Kompetens). Some systems aim for "knowledge management" - we believe this is the wrong way to maintain a competence oriented organization.
Just having a record of your current knowledge cobbled together with some run-of-the-mill courses will not drive your people!
A system, coupled with an understanding on how competence needs to thrive, will help your organization to constantly evolve. Make sure your people have the best support for this. The actual knowledge will come as natural result.

Examples and Screenshots
Clean and simple
KPerson has a clean and simple user-interface.
The frontpage lets you stay up-to-date with the latest changes in the system.
Address book and search
It is easy to search for and list people, and KPerson can be used as a quick-lookup address book. It's also handy as a photo catalogue trying to figure out who's that face.
Create CV's with ease
KPerson makes it easy for people to manage their CV, and keep it up-to-date.
Apart from basic contact details and a resume, KPerson lets you input a number of things:
- Certifications
- Employments
- Educations
- Experience, such as projects you've worked on, or other relevant items
- Skills
- ...and several other sections.
PDF export
KPerson can export good-looking CVs in PDF format, including portrait, company logo, and logos of any certificates.
See an example of the PDF files that KPerson can generate here, or by clicking the image below:
Input skill level and desired future level
KPerson is built to let people input their level of any skill that they have. This makes it easy to find them later.
That's only half of it though - KPerson also lets them input their desired future level of any given skill. That way, they can let their employer know what they want to learn... or what they would rather not work with. This is the competence-development aspect of KPerson.
Find people with a skill
When people have input their skills, it's easy to see who the top people in the company are for any given skill.... and who wants to learn.
Company skill profile
KPerson can let you see information of peoples skills on a company level, to answer questions like these:
- What skills are represented in the company?
- How many has them, and at what level?
- and finally, do people want to know more or less about a certain skills?
See how in the image below. The numbered boxes indicate the number of people with the skill and their level, whereas the arrows indicate the trend: Whether people on average want to know more or less about the skill.
iPhone interface
As a bonus, KPerson comes with a basic iPhone interface, with read-only access to the most common functions and information.
- Simple search
- Find people by name, or company
- See a person or company's picture and basic contact information
